10-12 hours/week
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Events Coordinator for a Christian
congregation committed to building relationships with her neighbors. The Events
Coordinator would work closely with volunteers in the congregation to plan,
organize, advertise, and execute many community events and some congregational
events. This role is vital in sending a weekly email to the congregation so
everyone is informed about past and upcoming events, as well as special worship
services, meetings, and prayer requests. The Events Coordinator also tracks
participants and invites them to future events. Helping us generate new ideas
for improving events is great, but it is more important that there is follow
through on the ideas. Ideally, the Events Coordinator is a highly organized
planner energized to tackle a to-do list while having friendly and personable
relationships with volunteers inside the church and building new relationships
outside the church.
About Christus Victor Lutheran Church
Christus Victor was planted in South Durham in 1966 to serve the Parkwood neighborhood and built the church building on the current site in 1970. Recently, we added a building addition, a community playground, and a community garden. We just applied for a grant for an outdoor chapel by the playground too so community members can relax in the shade and pray while they watch their children play.
God's Mission for us is "Fearlessly trusting God, we accept all others, ourselves, and our calling to give comfort."
We have built relationships with local schools, a local home for people with Traumatic Brain Injury, the local food bank, and are re-building a relationship with Durham Urban Ministries in downtown Durham. We hold about one event a month on our campus or in South Durham. Without an events coordinator, we find ourselves scrambling at the last minute and not doing the events well. With an events coordinator, we are not as rushed, more organized, less stressed, and the event is better and we can follow up with visitors more easily.
