Advent Theme: The Lord's Prayer

Wednesdays at 6:09 PM

The Lord's Prayer begins in Matthew 6:9.  So we will meet at 6:09 PM on Wednesdays this Lent to learn how to pray the themes within the Lord's Prayer that Jesus taught us.  This is different than praying the precious words the Church has taught us that many of us have memorized deep within our souls.

A list of themes in the Lord's Prayer from Luther's Small Catechism.

Hurricane Helene Response

Loving God, we pray for everyone impacted in our home state, North Carolina, by Hurricane Helene.  Our church, CVLC, had one tree come down on a car.  No one was hurt.  But people are dying in Western NC.  Lord, we pray for everyone that is hurt and crying, for everyone that is missing and looking, for everyone that is hungry, thirsty, or cold.  We pray for everyone that is able to help.  We pray for everyone that is praying.  In Jesus' Name we pray.  Amen.

On Nov 1st, CVLC with other local ELCA congregations sent a truck full of food to Living Waters Lutheran Church in Cherokee, NC.  Details here.

Fearlessly trusting God, we accept all others, ourselves, and our calling to give comfort.

Comfort your family by writing down your funeral wishes;
comfort your church by leaving CVLC in your will.

I have worked with numerous families over the years as they plan their loved one's funeral.  The families that knew what their loved one wanted do so much better than those who do not know.  Give comfort to your family by writing down your wishes and sharing it with them.  In the same way, you will give comfort to your church by leaving a legacy gift for CVLC in your will.
