  • Each other

Our congregation gathers in Agape (Greek word for love) groups to provide meals and support to each other in times of need. Many members meet for the monthly Lunch Bunch, seasonal parties and game nights. We also have an active Men's Group and a Women of the ELCA (WELCA) chapter.

  • The Church

CVLC offers many opportunities to participate in the administration of the church. We volunteer on Ministry Boards and the Church Council. Musical members participate in the adult choir and instrumental accompaniment. We also serve as ushers, acolytes, lay readers as well as nursery and communion assistants during services.

  • Our community

CVLC sponsors a Durham Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop. Our neighbors enjoy the kids playground, prayer walk and basketball hoop in the parking lot. We recently started a community garden, with free produce for all.  We provide a free summer day camp in July. The WELCA group frequently hosts events at local nursing homes. The Outreach & Social Ministry Board coordinates food donations to the Urban Ministries of Durham as well as socks to the Durham Rescue Mission and Good Samaritan Inn. In December, we re-enact the Christmas scenes in a Living Nativity complete with luminaries and cookies.

  • The world

We support several missions of the Lutheran World Relief organization. Our members collect toiletries, school supplies and other items for personal care kits and school kits. These items along with handmade quilts, sewn by our WELCA members, are distributed to families who have lost everything due to a natural disaster or violence.
